Blog Challenge Winner!
It’s the last day of January and that means we are done with the Get Your Blog On Blogging Challenge! Check out the results of the challenge over on Blueprint PR & Design’s blog to see what each challenge participant won and who came in first place. We’re pretty excited about our placing and prize winnings so you might be able to guess the outcome before even clicking over to see the official results!

STN Patio Choices
We’re loving this 65 degrees and sunny beautiful day! With this kind of weather patios are sure to be filled and the State Thomas Neighborhood has quite their share of spacious, popular patios!
The Nodding Donkey is a favorite among STN fans as they tend to open their big garage doors during nice weather days so wherever you sit in the bar you feel as if you’re outside and soaking up the sun.
TABC is not to be ignored as they also have a sweet patio with ample seating and even misters when it’s one of those hot summer nights. We don’t think they’ll be using the misters any time soon seeing as it’s January, but you never know with crazy Texas weather!
State and Allen is positioned on the corner of, you guessed it, State Street and Allen Street, which means it’s the perfect place to settle in on their comfortable patio and people watch as you sip your wine and chow down on their yummy eats.
Feel up to a unique drink concoction? Four Lounge just recently finished creating their patio so head over to take a look and order up a specialized drink that tastes like cotton candy. Not your cup of tea? Then order whatever drink suits your fancy since there are plenty to choose from.

STN Fun Facts – Part II
We’re back with more fun facts that you probably don’t know about the historical State Thomas Neighborhood!
-STN used to house one of Dallas’s most prominent newspaper publishers before the turn of the century. Can you guess which newspaper? We’ll give you a big hint: It starts with the name of the city and ends with ‘news’….yep, the Dallas Morning News! Publisher George B Dealey lived on Thomas and Routh back in the day and rode right down McKinney Avenue to his office every day.
-In 1887 the Dallas Circuit Street Railway opened and several years later in 1903 a second electronic streetcar line operated in the neighborhood on a loop along State Street. The streetcar line provided service to the downtown area and all the way to the State Fairgrounds in East Dallas. Wouldn’t it be nice to ride a streetcar all the way to the Red River Shootout game every Fall? We think so!

There’s a lot of history in the State Thomas Neighborhood. Don’t believe us? We compiled several fun facts about the area that most people don’t know about. For instance, did you know that the neighborhood has the last remnants of the historical residential structures of the Victorian era in Dallas? Interesting, isn’t it? There’s a lot more of those fun facts in this post as well as one more fun fact post before the end of January.
Events galore! The Londoner held their Eurotrash Blacklight Party, Four Lounge held a casting call for Casa Noble at their space, and The Nodding Donkey is holding their annual Superbowl Bash.

The Nodding Donkey’s 2nd Annual Superbowl Bash!
Last year The Nodding Donkey held their first Superbowl Extravaganza and it was such a success that they’re back with their 2nd Annual Superbowl Bash this year!
All inclusive tickets are going for $100 plus tax, and with only 205 seats available at one of the most popular bars in town, the tickets are selling out fast–so get yours before it’s too late!
The Londoner’s Eurotrash Blacklight Dance Party!
Have you been to Europe? If yes, you’re well aware of what Eurotrash is. If no, you’re still probably well aware of what Eurotrash is. The Londoner is most definitely aware of what Eurotrash is since their roots extend across the pond. So they’ve decided to throw a Eurotrash Blacklight Dance Party this Friday night to celebrate all that is great about Eurotrash in the heart of Uptown, the State Thomas Neighborhood.
Be sure and adorn your best (and worst) Eurotrash attire as it’s the only night you can get away with doing so. And be in the mood to dance as Tav the DJ will be spinning sweet beats that include house, dubstep, dance, trance, drum and bass. The Londoner will most surely be bumpin’ this Friday night!
Shot specials and giveaways will be given throughout the night and, best of all, there’s no cover charge!

Texas Sized Tex-mex!
Craving some good ol’ Texmex? It just so happens that the State Thomas Neighborhood restuarants have quite a few Texmex dishes that will satisfy your craving.
TABC offers a spicy queso dip that is simple, but oh-so-yummy. Also on the Texmex menu are the TABC Forkin’ Nachos, classic Tortilla Soup, and Fish Tacos if you’re wanting a slight seafood kick. Our favorite of the bunch? Spicy queso, hands down. (more…)
